Mixer Driver
Summary
A concrete mixer driver’s primary job is the safe and efficient delivery of ready mix concrete from the concrete batch plant to the customer’s job site.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- All drivers are expected to operate their vehicle in a safe and professional manner, both on road and off.
- Deliveries are expected to be on time, so knowing the area in which you work is important.
- Ability to multi-task to properly operate the truck while loaded
- Know (or be willing to learn) basic truck maintenance and proper cleaning methods to keep trucks in good operating condition
Skills and Experience Required
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air brakes endorsement
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Basic commercial truck driving experience; 1 year preferred
- Concrete mixer operating experience not required, but is a plus; will train
- Ability to lift 30-40lb chutes on a regular daily basis

Gravel Train Driver
Summary
- A Gravel train driving position consists of delivering aggregate and other material to various locations, primarily from gravel pits to ready mix plants. It can also include trucking materials for other outside companies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- All drivers are required to fill out paperwork each day indicating material and delivery information.
- All drivers are expected to operate their vehicle in a safe and professional manner, both on road and off.
- Gravel train drivers are sometimes required to load themselves in a gravel pit, so basic knowledge of operating a front end loader are necessary; will train if needed.
Skills and Experience Required
- Good communication, writing, and customer service skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Doubles (T) and Air brakes endorsements
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Basic commercial truck driving experience with double trailers; 1 year preferred and/or pass a driving skills test
- Gravel train operation requires the ability to safely back up both trailers on a frequent basis, sometimes over long distances
Cement Bulker Driver
Summary
- A Bulker driving position mainly involves delivering Portland cement and other cementitious material from a cement terminal or plant to our various ready mix plant locations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- All drivers are required to fill out paperwork each day indicating material and delivery information.
- All drivers are expected to operate their vehicle in a safe and professional manner, both on road and off.
- Bulker drivers require the ability to physically handle long pneumatic transfer hoses to unload cement from the trailers into the silos.
Skills and Experience Required
- Good communication, writing, and customer service skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tank (N), Doubles (T), and Air brakes endorsements
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Basic commercial truck driving experience with double trailers; 1 year preferred and/or pass a driving skills test
Truck Mechanic / Plant Maintenance
Summary
A truck mechanic’s primary job is the repair or heavy trucks, mainly ready mix concrete trucks, but also gravel train trucks and cement bulker trucks. At times, repairs and maintenance of the concrete batch plant or related equipment may be required as well.
An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions and guidelines.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
- Inspect machines, engines, transmissions, etc., and run diagnostic test to discover functionality issues
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle operators
- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles, etc.)
- Keep accurate logs of work and report on issues
Skills and Experience Required
- Have a good mechanical inclination/aptitude
- Capable of learning machinery, hydraulics, electrical and other systems and components
- Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, blueprints, etc.
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Very good communication skills
- A good problem-solving ability
- Very good physical strength and stamina
- High school diploma or GED is preferred. Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus
Additional Requirements

* A CDL class B (or A) is not required but is beneficial overall for test driving and diagnosing problems
